
May Routh, a veteran costume designer, is trending in the media for the wrong reasons; she died in the early hours of today at the age of 87.

The renowned costume designer who created iconic looks for films such as (The Man Who Fell to Earth, My Favorite Year, and Being There) passed on peacefully on Saturday (June 11) at her residence in Los Angeles.
Routh is survived by her stepdaughters, Joanna (a costume designer as well) and Stephanie (a garden designer), as well as their children, Otis, Finton, Otto, and Florence.
She made her film debut as a costume designer on Nicolas Roeg’s (The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976),) which starred David Bowie as the humanoid alien Thomas Jerome Newton. May has also received several Emmy nominations for her work on many movies such as Andersonville and Lucy & Desi.
According to her family representatives, a memorial service is planned for Wednesday at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. All friends and loved ones are cordially invited.
